Steven Caras Event Photos

Friend of The Dancer’s Alchemy, Mr. Steven Caras, will be a featured lecturer at Florida Atlantic University- Lifelong Learning Society (Jupiter) in “Staying Power: A Balanchine Dancer’s Story of Survival” this January. Filmmakers Witek & Novak featured Mr. Caras in an hour-long Emmy-winner documentary, “Steven Caras: See Them Dance” which gave the Public Television audiences nationwide a poignant glimpse of his Renaissance man career from his early days as a dancer and later privileged photographer with the New York City Ballet. This presentation picks up where the film left off, as Mr. Caras shares professional and personal milestones and setbacks via compelling, uncensored tales as a dancer during the true golden era of dance in America under the leadership of George Balanchine.

This event will be held Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 11:15am. Call 561-799-8547 for more information and download the event flyer here.  If you are appreciative of fine arts, you will thoroughly enjoy this!

Buddy Walk Funding Provided Free Art Classes This Summer

We have heard from the Gold Coast Down Syndrome Organization that they have used the funding raised by The Dancer’s Alchemy during the 2015 Buddy Walk to provide free art classes for local adults this summer. The class has been so popular that they will continue to offer it during the fall and beyond! The participants have really enjoyed the class.

Thank you to all of the Southern Dance Theatre and Dancer’s Edge Company families and students who participated to make this event and the class for these students such a success.

You may see some familiar faces in the photos below, some of the members of the Special Arts Ensemble enjoyed their time painting this summer.

Love Affair 2016 – Post-Show Announcement

Joan, Penni, Carissa - Love Affair 2016
We’re excited to announce that through the many generous donations, ticket sales, concession sales, and program gratitude messages to Miss Joan, the Dancer’s Alchemy raised $21,000. Expenses of the show, reception, and advertising were $8,000, of which $4,000 was underwritten and the remaining $4,000 was paid for by the money raised. The remaining $17,000 was donated to The Palm Beach Ballet Center trust to aide in the purchase of a hospital bed, wheelchair, and walker for Miss Joan Miller as she lives with Alzheimers.

Many thanks again for those who shared their time, money, and love to make this all possible.
